Awesome Art/Music Friday!

It was a rainy Friday, filled with fun activities, art projects, dance parties, and Music from Jackie! We started off in our classroom, while friends arrived we greeted them and invited them to the table, where Annabelle, Jasper, Alanna, Theo, and Ben were sitting exploring the play-dough and materials. Annabelle liked using the scissors to cut the play dough, Ben used the rolling pin, Theo and Alanna used the curlers to make small and big holes, and Jasper pushed buttons into the green play dough. Once Koichi, Joey, Paislie, Asher, and Wren arrived we did a quick clean–up, hand wash, and made our way to the table to sit and enjoy some delicious Apples and Bananas. We of course transitioned to the carpet after snack for circle time, dance party, and a book! After our circle time, we went straight into song, with Jackie on guitar! Singing all of our favorites, plus some dancey songs that the kids could jump up and down too! We brought the logs and cars to the carpet, and many of my friends used the smaller logs to bang the bigger logs as if it were drums! The look on everyone’s face was of excitement as Jackie finished the long list of requested songs. We read a quick book, “the lady who swallowed a bat”, cleaned up, then began our art/sensory activity! In the past couple of weeks, Teo’s family has donated some very interesting, fun dance party lights, some that contain black lights! So we turned off the light, using only the disco balls as light, and did some art using a Yellow and Orange Highlighter, we noticed that when looking at it with a blacklight, the colors look more vibrant and brighter than in the light! They all has such a blast working on the floor, and using blacklights to view their awesome art! We then had another dance party, as I passed out different colored glowstick bracelets, we danced in the dark, showing off our glowing wrists, some friends combined theirs and made necklaces! It was getting close to lunch, so we turned back on the lights, did a hand-wash and sat for lunch, then transitioned into potties and nap!

After nap, while we were rolling up our nap mats, Teddy came to visit us! He ran around the room and the kids followed him around laughing and screaming with excitement. Jackie held Teddy so that every one could give him soft pets on his belly, and we went around giving all our friends high fives. After hanging out with teddy we all washed our hands and sat down for a delicious snack of pasta and cauliflower. We took turns using the vacuum cleaner (which Joey and Asher have been very interested in). Alanna and Paislie wore butterfly wings and took care of babies together. Wren spent most of his time looking out the window. Annabelle did puzzles with Piggy. Jasper was dancing more than any one else today, and Ben was busy in the building center driving cars on our mini parking garage. Every one took turns using our cool lights all afternoon as well. We brought out Tuna fish and every one was able to feed him one pellet, then we all watched him gobble up the pellets one by one. At the very end of the day, we were finally able to go outside and enjoy the beautiful weather

Happy Friday!

Love,
Dom and Jackie
