Great Monday!

It was an early morning out in the cold weather, but every one was prepared with their hats and their jackets. Teo quickly started watering the "garden" near the hose while Asher was busy gathering Lego pieces in his bucket. Theo collected with Asher, and even held his lovey for him. Alanna and Ivy took charge driving on the "boat," and later Annabelle drove the "bus" using the wheel as she sat on the tree. Paislie, Alanna, and Ivy got busy baking a cake and Theo also drove on the tree. We were having such a great time outside, that we decided to have a picnic! We all ate delicious oranges and bananas and had some time for some more free-play. We played games with hula hoops and did Ring Around the Rosie. We brought some books from inside and read Hands are Not for Hitting on the grassy knoll and talked about the weather. Then, we headed inside for some time to scribble right before lunch. Asher, Paislie, Alanna, Teo, and Ivy were ready for some artwork. Ben had joined the Primary room for a play date. Then, it was time to have our lunches and open them ourselves! Wren was eager to skillfully open the zipper of his lunch box, Teo was able to loosen the top of one of his containers, Ivy has fun stating the name of each food as they are revealed to her. Asher enjoyed laying out each food item as he said "open" for each one, indicating that the item needed to be opened before eaten! Alanna and Paislie needed a little help opening their containers, we we used teamwork to get them open. After, every one put their lunches away and got settled in for nap.

After nap, we had some fun playdough time. Some of our pre-tot friends popped in for a visit, and they got to enjoy hanging out in the building area and the kitchen. Annabelle, Teo, Alanna, Ivy, and Asher were particularly interested in the playdough after nap. Then, it was time for Abbey Nagler to come! We all gathered for our first yoga lesson as a class, and most of our guys were immediately interested. We blew feathers and talked about our breath, took deep breath and said "om" as we let it out, touched our toes, then our nose, then our nose to our toes, and even tried tree-pose, which Wren and Theo showed they had been practicing! We gave lots of hugs and finally got ready to head outside and end the day!

Love,
Jackie and Dom

What a great start to 2013! Love the yoga class pictures, especially the group tree and butterfly poses.

I love the way you support our Sprouts while helping them feel autonomous, as in opening lunch items together! Teo loves to recount our day every day and always says at night ( and sometimes other times ) "I want to talk about my day". Last night he was talking a lot about yoga and the feather breathing excercises, he clearly loved the experience! The last thing he said as he was falling asleep was " I did yoga..." :)
