Greens, Gardens, and Grass!

Everyone showed up all bundled since the weather got cold again. Alanna, Teo, Ivy and Noah all came to the carpet, as I plugged in the awesome keyboard Scott let us borrow! We listened to different drumming noises, animal noises, and waves. We listened to some prerecorded songs, and made up beats and songs of our own! We waited for a few more friends to show up, and then got ready for snack! We had a quick diaper check, and marched outside to the cold, but tolerable weather. Since our letter of the week is G, we pointed out things outside that started with the letter. Green, Grass, Garden, Grow! Theo came to me saying “ffffff”, as he was still very much stuck on the letter F, but quickly turned his attention to the garden, and started saying “guh guh guuuhh”.  We checked out a few caterpillars the primary came across, before marching inside for lunch and nap transition.

As it got into the waking hour, Alanna and Theo were the only ones awake and ready to get busy, so while we let our other friends sleep, we made our way to the table for fine motor/manipulative's.  I brought out a three hole punch and a one hole punch. I demonstrated how to squeeze and push down on the hole punch. Theo asked first to use while Alanna observed. He made a few holes, then was curious on how to remove and insert the paper. Alanna said she was ready and started practicing with the one hole punch, squeezing hard and making holes in her paper. As more friends awoke Theo and Alanna cleaned up and made their way to the library. Ms Abby is out of town, so she sent another of Little Yoga Houses’ finest, Ms Chelsea! We greeted Ms Chelsea, and she started stretches with everyone, asking them to stomp their feet, touch their toes, and get on their hands and knees like they were crawling. We finished yoga up with some ring around the yogi, got shoes on and headed outside! Ms Toni was outside working on the garden which gave my friends the perfect opportunity to get dirty, check out the plants, and help pull out weeds and Grass! We came across some roly poly’s which everyone loves, and that brought all the primary, toddlers, and pre tots together to get as many as they could!

Much Love

Dom and Jackie
