Halloween Week!

We started off our Monday caring for our little sprouts in the classroom. We did work and in the afternoon we had yoga!

Tuesday morning, we joined the primary room outside as they set a beautiful monarch butterfly free. We placed it on the branch of a tree to ensure its safety. Then, we had a chance to do some art. We used construction paper cut outs of ginger bread-type men, and used tape to turn them into mummies. It was a very focused activity. In the afternoon, we became alligators. We laid on our bellies quietly and waited for our pray to pass us so that we could “snap” on them and eat them! We read some cool books and Amelia joined us for yoga.

Wednesday, we got busy using connectors in the morning. Later in the morning, we had the chance to decorate sugar skulls for our Dia De los Green Sprout celebration. In the afternoon, we finished up our mummies and put eyes on them. We talked a lot about Halloween!

On Halloween, we started out with a dress-up black-light dance party! We read Noah’s book, On the Moon, and talked about floating in outer-space! We got Halloween tattoos in the afternoon, and during snack, had a chance to enjoy one special treats provided by parents. We each got to eat one chocolate candy, but had to use our fine motor skills to unwrap it first. Before we knew it, it was 4pm and time to start celebrating. We headed outside to enjoy our Dia De los Green Sprout party.

Friday morning, our community project was gluing leaves to trees drawn on paper. We also played games of Ring Around the Rosie. Meanwhile, we were having dance party all morning. In the afternoon, we had a cooking project which involved mixing peanut butter, granola, and a bit of pumpkin spice. Every one enjoyed their snack.
