Happy Birthday, Dom!

We had a fabulous start to morning, hangin' out inside with lots to do. We started off reading a couple of books and having circle time, where we sang name songs, the days of the week, and the song we learned in yoga which says, to the tune of what sounds like the wheels on the bus:

My little light bows to your little light

Your little light

Your little light

My little light bows to your little light

Namaste

There are also simple hand movements   That your toddler can show you, or you can ask Dom or I to demonstrate!

After circle time, we had some free-play and brought out some play dough and tools to use. Teo and Alanna were the first to show interest in the play dough, but soon Ivy, Asher, Theo, and Paislie joined the fun. When asked what they were making, Teo said "a tree" and then later, "a pancake." Asher replied, a truck." Ivy kept showing hers and saying, "look at that!" Alanna said, a butterfly," and Theo "I'm making a peacock," which he's been making a lot lately with pay dough. And Sophie, visiting from the pre-tot room hung out and tore little pieces of play dough apart, making her own creation. Ben had skipped along to the primary room early in the morning. We had some more free-play, then Toni read The Very Hungy caterpillar. We crawled around like caterpillars, made ourselves into cocoons, and the arose as beautiful flying butterflies. Then, we decided to build a fort, and inside the fort we worked on creating a fireplace to stay warm and tables on which to eat our food. We gathered up inside the fort, listened to the rain pouring outside, and read two books that Teo brought for us. One was called I Like it When..., about things we like to do, like holding hands and playing peekaboo, and another book called Baloney (Henry P.) about An Alien who was late to school. After all this fun, we washed our hands and unpacked our own lunches. We ate, and it Was nap time.

After nap, we had a great Spanish time on the rug, and sang a fun silly song which involves dancing around with booty out, tongue out, and thumbs up. Then, we put on birthday hats and sang Happy Birthday to Dom during snack time! It was a real blast. After, we got dressed and headed outside to end the day!

Love,
Jackie and Dom
