Leaf Painting!

5/1/2013

We started our day with drop off outside which included a nature walk, collecting leaves for our art project, snack and circle time, then back outdoors for some Leaf painting/sensory art!

I taped a long piece of butcher paper to the wall outside by the stairs, as friends began to migrate toward me, the paper, and the paint. I put smocks on my friends who asked to paint, while other friends chose to explore the playground, and the garden. I explained to everyone that since the letter of the week is L, we were going to use the Leaves we found to do some painting! Ivy, Teo, Asher, Theo, Paislie, and Noah were super excited and wanted to start as soon as possible. I had four different colors of paint, along with four paint plates. We used white, orange, pink, and purple! They got to painting, Ivy and Teo slapping the paint on with their long twig with lots of leaves, while Noah chose to use one leaf as a paintbrush and made circles and small dots along the paper. Many friends left their mark, before heading to the kangaroo climber. Olive and Ancel asked to join and we got smocks on them too! Olive asked for white, while Ancel found a piece of mulch and called it a Leaf :) silly Ancel! Ivy, Noah, and Olive were my last friends at the wall painting before we cleaned up and explored. We shared our work station with our Pre tot and primary friends as they came outside! It was a beautiful, collaborated piece of work, that everyone was proud to have put their hands on!

After nap, Mr Kenny visited, while I made a Costco run with Toni! Many friends were excited to see Mr Kenny, and gave him lots of hugs as we marched outside to enjoy the afternoon!

Much Love

Dom and Jackie
