New Work!

Monday was a fun-filled day where we spent circle time introducing the sound “a”  We got to talk about the sound bag, where different “a” items are kept. We spent time working after circle time, and then headed outside to build a “tent” using materials we already had. During yoga, we turned into frogs and did lots of hopping before laying down to relax. When we went out, we finger-painted a camping scene. There were many focused faces as they used their fingers as paint brushes.

Tuesday, we spent most of the morning watering our plants. We introduced new works, like the Velcro board and the knobbed cylinders. We talked about using our new materials carefully. We went outside and had a chance to make a happy birthday banner for our primary friend, Addie. The weather was absolutely stunning, so we decided to have a picnic at the table outside. It’s definitely something we will be doing more often as it was a huge success! In the afternoon we continued our Addie birthday celebration with some fresh fruit on the deck. Then, we had yoga! We made an awesome toddler train, where we sat down next to each other and drove together. At the end of yoga, we used straws to observe our breath. We blew through the straws and tried blowing ping-pong balls on the floor. When we headed outside, we explored the tent.

On Thursday, we started out the day with a surprise combined outside time. We turned it into a community circle time where we took turns singing to our favorite songs. We went in and used some of our new works. In the afternoon we took out the tent and took turns to our hearts’ desire. We built a fire using bark and construction paper, talked for a while about fire safety, and then warmed our hands on the fire. We had a picnic outside for second snack.

Friday, we spent the morning pulling weeds from the garden, adding dirt to the garden, and taking care of any earthworms we found. We spent more time working, and the in the afternoon, had a chance to use dot markers to learn about the letter a.
