Reading Thursday!

We started out this beautiful Thursday out on the deck as repairs were being made to our fence! We spent time using Legos to build trains and peeking through the fence to see trucks passing by. We went in for an early snack, and had circle time immediately after. We read a book about Big Shiny Machines and Curious George. We talked about the “overcast” weather, the possibility of rain (Teo loves to say “It might rain. It might not.”) and counted the days of the month. We headed to the deck with Olive’s book and Theo’s luchalibre mask. Each of us took turns wearing the mask. Theo, Alanna, Paislie, and Ivy were especially interested in wearing it and asking for pictures to be taken. Dom brought out some chalk, and friends got busy. Teo was interested in drawing shapes with Dom.  Ancel was interested in asking for specific colors, and Asher was interested in finding different surfaces to draw on. Soon Ancel and Noah were chatting it up about the different objects on the baby bouncers. Ancel found a way to get in, but needed help getting out.  Noah seemed to understand that the bouncers are mainly for babies. Paislie drove her motorcycle around, and I helped her put gas in the tank and air in the tires. Teo enjoyed showing his younger friends the way a big bouncy ball can be used. Olive was interested in seeing names written on the fence for her, and Asher built what looked like a city scape, but was actually an awesome train headed for the store. We came in for lunch. Before nap, we had time to read two more books while we rested on our nap mat, and finally it was time to go to sleep.

When we got up, we had snack and headed outside to see the new fence. We took turns knocking on the fence and talking about how safe the new fence is. We also peeked through the cracks to spot birds and cars. It started to sprinkle, so we headed inside. The pre-tots joined us, and those who were interested played dress up with mustaches. Paislie and Alanna got busy playing mama and baby. Paislie would wake up and Alanna would say “No No, little baby. Go back to sleep, little baby.” And Paislie would rest her head again. Then, Dom brought out Snarl the fish, and we talked about his colors and fins.  Pick ups picked up and the day came to a close.
