Spanish Wednesday!

Good Day Toddler Parents! We started our Wednesday very routinely, making our way outside to the playground. Most of our friends went straight to the hula hoops, showing off their skill, while Koichi picked flowers from the garden, showing them off to all of his friends. Paislie was busy working in the sandbox, using a cup to shovel sand into a watering can. Asher joined in on the fun and found his own cup, while Annabelle explored the fire engine, intently observing those who were hula hooping. Theo found a bucket, turned it over, stood up and became He-Man, shouting “by the power of grey skull”! We ventured to the garden where we found tiny Roly-Poly’s and watched the ants march in a line! Before we made our way inside, Teddy, our doggy friend, paid us a visit! We chased, and chased him until everyone got tired, said goodbye to Teddy, as he went around giving everyone “high fives” :)

As we made our way inside, we washed hands and sat, ready for AM snack. Once everyone was done, and clean we made our way to the carpet for some book reading and circle time! Our good friend Teo, brought in his favorite book, “Let’s Go To School”! Teo was so excited to share his book with all of his friends, and they were excited to lift the flaps! They were very interested in what was underneath the flaps, that everyone wanted a turn to see the pages! While some friends lifted and closed the flaps, Joey, Koichi, Asher, and Theo brought out some new building materials/logs. They loved stacking them up, and making a track for the trains and cars to drive down.  We decided to split up the group for outside exploration, I had Teo, Koichi, Asher, Ben, and Theo. Once outside, Asher and Ben went straight for Trucks, rolling them up and down the ramp, slowly than fast! Theo sat at the Lemonade stand selling “coffee” and Koichi and Teo took turns going down the slide, than crawling back up! As we made our way in for lunch, we made a pit stop in the Pre-Tot room to say hi! Everyone was excited to see new visitors! We transitioned into our room for hand wash, lunch, and nap.

After nap, we read books, sat on potties, and got all of our friends ready for Ms Leona, and PM snack! Asher and Teo worked very hard on a wooden puzzle, while Joey and Annabelle worked together on a different puzzle. Koichi was very interested in the “Planet Earth” pop-up book and the “Era of the Dinosaurs”. Paislie was busy trying on the Dramatic Play baby clothes, while Teo stood in front of the mirror looking at himself J We had a very quick and smooth clean-up, before Ms Leona made her way in for Spanish! We started off with the “Hola” song, than transitioned to a Pop-up book in Spanish. We finished off Spanish with egg shakers and the “rain” (Illuvia) song! Everyone loved to shake the shakers fast and slow, banging them on their legs, on the floor, and on the table. We said our goodbyes to Ms Leona, and made our way to the table for some yummy snack of garbanzo beans and steamed broccoli. We washed hands and sat to do some art, Teo, Paislie, Koichi, Joey, Asher, and Ben used watercolors to paint a picture of the Alphabet in Spanish. We discussed the Letter A, and practiced saying “El Alfabeto” in Spanish! They had such a blast dipping their paint brushes and fingers in the water colors, and made beautiful pictures that we hung up in our Writing Station. Ended the day with a fun and fast dance party, then made our way outside to enjoy the awesome afternoon on the playground!

Hooray for Teddy! Teo loves to list his favorite people and animals and Teddy has made it onto his "dog roster". Sounds like it was another fantastic Spanish day. I love the way you fused art with Spanish today; what pretty pictures we saw hanging in their rooms today! When we arrived to pick up Teo, Koichi was finishing his art, and seemed to be as intent on the paint on his hands as that he carefully placed on his art :)
