Super-Awesome Week

Monday was awesome. We started out with a great circle time on the letter sound “T”. Trucks, Tea, tracks, towels and more, every one was super excited to find out what “T” object they would get. After circle time, we worked hard. We went out and listened to stories on the lawn. We even had a chance to do some drawing. In the afternoon used our imaginations and gross motor skills to create a choo-choo train. Colette came for yoga, and she brought bubbles with her to demonstrate how our breath works. And then during snack, Miss Ashley showed every one Mr. Whale, our new soap dispenser.

On Tuesday, we started out using stencils and pencils. During circle time, we talked about Mr. Whale again, and did a demonstration on how to use him.  We went outside and planted Merigolds. In the afternoon, we did yoga on the deck!

Wednesday morning, we started out with stamps at the table. While every one used stamps and markers, Ashley started painting the bookshelf to turn it into a fireplace. We had circle time, and then took out some counting cards. We counted the cards and put them in order again and again.  We went outside, and every one had a chance to clean up the garden a bit, but pulling out grass and weeds.  We came in and had fun discussion about things we can be thankful for.

On Thursday, we made paper versions of ourselves. We glued cut outs of clothes onto the gingerbread type shapes and marked and put stickers on them. Later, we used connectors and practiced pulling them apart and putting them together. During circle time, we warmed our hands in the pretend fireplace. We talked about how fire is hot, and we should not touch fire. We also talked about fires provide light and heat, and they’re fun to stay cozy next to. We read a book and did some work. Miles and Livio were with us. We made drum sets out of some spoons and cardboard boxes. We hung out, played the drums, and had dance party the rest of the day.

Friday, we had a small class. Many of our friends were either sick or on vacation. We were thinking of you! We made a train in the play area. During circle time, we read a book about how to make booboos feel better. We talked about helping friends, what it looks like when some one’s sad or hurting, and using first aid. We passed butterfly bandaids around and put them on the same spot as the bird in the book. We talked about times when we’ve used bandaids before.  In the afternoon, Miss Liz dropped by to give us an awesome cooking lesson. We showed us a fun way to separate pomegranate seeds from their peel, how to make a smoothie, and how to make a scrumptious smoothie pie. We each got to press pecans on the bottom of our cups, got smoothie poured on top, and then used our pomegranate seeds to top it off.

What a friggin’ awesome week!
