The Zoo, Spanish, and Dreidels!

We started Monday off stamping away on some paper. We did some work and play, and then had circle time. After circle time, we made a train, and headed to the zoo, and the farm. We took the crabs outside and cleaned out their tank. We were sure to thank Jackson and his family for taking care of the hermies (their new nickname) over the Thanksgiving break! We had yoga in the afternoon. During yoga, we found partners and stretched together.

During circle time, we took out items that start with the letter “z” from our sound bag.  After circle time, we did some work. Then, we headed outside to enjoy the weather and some new outdoor toys! We had a chance to look at Noah’s nutcracker in the afternoon. Yoga followed, and we had a blast. With Anne, we tried our best to do tree pose and use our toes to pick up balls.

Wednesday, we brought zoo animals to school. We talked about our animals at circle time and gave out zoo animal stickers! Some of us brought our zoo animals to snack. If we brought our animal to snack, we also pretended to feed them. Then, we took a trip to the zoo! We got to use our zoo animals during free-play in the morning as well. In the afternoon, we met Daphne, our new Spanish teacher! We learned a song about saying hello:

Hola

Hola

Yo te digo hola

Hola

Hola

Yo te digo hola

Yo estoy bien!

Y espero que tu tambien!

(I don’t know how to describe the melody!)

After Spanish, we used Zip-lock bags to mix paint and learn about colors.

Thursday, we used Playdough and bubble-wrap in the morning.  We talked about zebras during circle time, and then had a zebra painting project. After painting, we focused on work. In the afternoon, we had Spanish time again.

Friday started late, and every one showed up with smiles in their pajamas! We got warm hugs from Dom, and got to explore some bubble-wrap.  We finished our Hanukkah collage with some friends and talked about celebration. In the afternoon, we played with dreidels. Then for snack, we used strawberries and pretzel sticks to make dreidels that we could eat! We read books and warmed our hands by the fire in the afternoon, admiring our Christmas stockings.

‘Twas an awesome week!
