Wet Wednesday!

H is for Hat! and that is exactly what we found in our dramatic play area. Theo wore the chef's hat, admiring himself in the mirror. Noah found one, and put it on, and said "cheese", while Ms Jackie tied a bandana on Ivy! Asher, Alanna, and Ancel all joined in on the phone and put hats on too! Before we sat for snack, we all took a breather on the carpet, took some "snake breaths", and started the book that Teo brought, "The Vanishing Villain"! That caught their attention for a good 20-25 mins, before we sensed their eager energy, and made our way outside! It was definitely the ultimate sensory exploration, as they dipped their hands in the rain water, shoveled out mud, and molded shapes and castles with the wet sand. We soon felt rain drops and made our way back inside for centers, and transition to lunch/nap!

After nap, as friends woke, the kiddos took turns looking out of the window at the rain. Jackie brought the rain stick and asked if they thought it sounded like the rain outside, most friends said YES, with certainty. As Jackie helped friends roll up their nap mats, I made my way to the writing station. I introduced the letter "H", and words that begin with H. Alanna, Ancel, Olive, Noah, and Asher made their way over to see what was going on, and took a seat. I brought out some paint, paper, and smocks. We practiced saying "hu,hu,hu" and "ha, ha, ha". I replied "ha, ha, hands", and most repeated, we all waved our hands, clapped our hands, and shook our hands. Then each friend took a turn putting their hand prints on construction paper, which is displayed in the writing center. Asher chose not to participate but was a fantastic Helper, which also starts with the letter "H"! We all washed hands, made our way to the table for a late snack, and then enjoyed our afternoon inside exploring with the Pre-Tots!

Much Love
Dom and Jackie
