Working at the carwash!

The day officially began with cantaloupe and raisins during an morning picnic. It wasn't long before we washed our hands off using the water hose and started making mud using the dirt and water. Friends found shovels and rakes and scraped up what they could. We put the mud in a container and started our trek to the deck. We march, march, marched to find the pre-tots happily occupying the space. Paislie, Joey, and Alanna were very excited to take whole handfuls of mud and smear them all over our clean cars. Soon Jasper, Koichi, Wren, Ivy, Theo, Teo, and Asher got the idea, too. We were surprised that they didn't have more fun getting dirty! We brought out a tub of water and some sponges and let them have at it. Paislie, Joey, Alanna, Ivy, and Wren immediately started scrubbing the corners of every wheel and handle. Koichi and Teo were having more fun climbing and sliding on the Kangaroo climber while Jasper spent most of his time squeezing the sudsy water and watching it fall to the ground. Asher and Theo were too busy riding on the dirty cars to start using the sponges. However, a few minutes in, every one was contributing to the cleaning. Every one was in a great mood.

After lunch and nap, we kept the lights low for some quiet cuddling time. Then, we brought out one of our cool strobe lights and the kiddos got to enjoy it in all its glory, with the dim lights. We separated into centers and every one found something to do. We had a fun dance party to Miya's old mellow mix which has beatles songs, Jack Johnson songs, and old favorites like the song "My Girl" and "Baby Love." Jasper and Wren spent most of their time having their own private dance party while other friends moved from kitchen, to building center, to playdough. Soon it was Spanish time. We sat down for snack and Spanish and watched like awesome little audience members, clapping after ever fun song. Once snack was wrapping up, we were able to use the cool egg shaped shakers Ms. Leona constructed herself for our "Lluvia" song about the rain. We said our goodbyes, got our shoes and sunscreen on, and headed for the great outdoors! It was a lovely day.
