Infancy and early adolescence are critical years for child development. Our curriculum at Green Sprout Preschool was strategically designed to support both the mental and physical development of your child.
Brain Development There is a dynamic interplay between nature and nurture. The development of the brain is greatly influenced by many environmental conditions. Green Sprout Preschool provides our students with nourishment, warm and nurturing interactions, a challenging and stimulating environment, and dynamic experiences.
The milestones of physical development are usually broken down into two major components—gross motor and fine motor. Three periods of outdoor playtime, both structured and free-play, are offered each day that allow our students to exercise their gross motor skills. In-class activities, such as Montessori work time, arts and crafts, dramatic play, and project-based learning offer many opportunities for students to practice their fine motor skills. All children develop at their own unique rate and it is our mission to provide an environment that positively challenges and supports their individual needs.
Health and Nutrition
One aspect of our curriculum that sets Green Sprout Preschool apart from other schools is our mission to instill healthful eating habits at an early age. Not only do we provide organic fruits and vegetables to our students for each snack period throughout the day, but we also have our own organic garden on our preschool’s campus. Students learn the importance of eating an organic plant-based foods all while growing our own produce in our school garden. Our students design, plant and tend our garden to optimize their interest and desire to sample from our fruits, vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers once they are ready for harvest. It is also essential that our students learn about recycling, composting, the plant cycle and the water cycle so that the concept of sustainability is understood and appreciated.
