Testimonials from Our Community
"My son started Green Sprout at 18 months and stayed until he graduated. It was an amazing experience! We don't even live that close to the school but decided the drive was worth it. We had multiple friend's who had sent their kids to GS and spoke so highly of it that it was our first choice of a preschool in Austin. The teachers in all three classes our son moved through in his time there were so loving and supportive.
Liz, who owns the school, made our experience what it was. She is genuine and caring. She has created a community. The kids are the highest priority for everyone there and its obvious. I have experience with my children attending other schools, and I recognize what it feels like when this is not the case. Green Sprout set our standards high for what to expect from a school.
Additionally, I've watched the playground evolve into a whimsical work of art over the years. The space itself is warm and inviting and the teachers are too. They are genuinely interested in the students and in their families. If you are fortunate enough to be able to send your child to this school you will not be disappointed."

"We can't speak highly enough about Green Sprout Preschool. My daughter Bernadette attended this school, and as a former preschool teacher I have VERY high standards, and they exceeded them all!
We got on the waitlist in 2018 when the previous co-owner (who is no longer a part of the preschool) was in the office and the waitlist situation/communication was terrible. We waited it out though and I'm so glad we did! Liz, the woman who now solely owns Green Sprout has whipped that situation into shape and is phenomenal at corresponding with hopeful parents. (Because she knows there is nothing more frustrating than not knowing if you'll get a spot. Liz understands this and is super transparent with you every step of the way).
I've found at other preschools that there are a few teachers that are gems, and normally some that are worn out. Not at Green Sprouts! Every. Single. Teacher LOVES their job and goes above and beyond to show the children love and grace (and it's a testament to how well they are treated, that the teachers stay so positive everyday). I remember crying tears of relief when I got into my car after dropping Bernadette off for the first day, we had struggled so much finding childcare for her. And I left her at Green Sprouts assured that I could finally trust she was being given the best care possible.
One last thing I want to point out that I personally love about the preschool is the creative environment. Every classroom, and even the playscape has artistic value to it, that inspires an enriched learning experience."

"I can't imagine a better environment for my kid to learn... well, just about everything. I mean that quite literally since she's learning emotional skills alongside life skills--with a little Chinese and soccer mixed in. The staff here are pretty amazing and dedicated; they genuinely love and care for the kids. You can see it in their faces each day (how they rally this spirit every day is amazing).
More practically speaking, the founders base the approach on a blend of Montessori and Reggio Emilia. The kids spend a lot of time together across the age groups. The facility is both brand new and ever-evolving--stay tuned for a major buildout of a playground out back sometime soon.
Really fantastic place we're so grateful to have found."

"Green Sprout Preschool Where to begin. So I am very new to the GS community and this review is an evaluation of my child's first week at the daycare from a first time parent. (so, a lot of anxiety coming from this momma)
The GS team has been amazing to work with. I first became aware of GS last January when I was 6 months pregnant and started to shop around for daycare options. Recently transplanted from the northeast, I was use to long waitlists for quality daycare options and knew this would have to be a priority for us. After touring the facility with Liz (founder), I fell in love with the grounds and curriculum and learned so much about childhood development. At that point in my pregnancy I had read 0 books on babies or childhood development. I signed up to their waitlist, hopeful and fully aware that I needed to pursue other options as backups. Although previous YELP reviews note that you have to know someone to be admitted, I am happy to be a testament on how that is not true. I have no prior connections to GS or the team there and am so happy my kiddo was admitted (based on development and timing).
As a first time momma, one of the hardest things I have ever had to do is separate from my baby girl and start shaping our new normal with jobs, feeding/diaper schedules, and development goals. Ms. Crystal, Ms. Candace and Mr. Alex have all been instrumental in my transition back to work and managing my kiddo's safety and security while at GS. I have to admit the first day I dropped her off I cried and was inconsolable, but receiving the updates and pics from Ms. Crystal and Mr. Alex got me thru the day. That night my daughter slept 8 hours straight and I knew she was a happy baby and we were off finding our groove with GS and the new schedule. By the end of the week she was sleeping more than 9 hours straight and her calm and confident demeanor grew my trust in Green Sprouts.
The decision to put our daughter in daycare was not easy to make; however, Green Sprouts (in particular Ms. Crystal, Ms. Candace, and Mr. Alex) has made the transition so much easier and inspired confidence that she is at the right place, with the right team, and the right environment to be challenged.
If you are considering GS, request a tour and sign up as soon as you feel confident you will need daycare. You will not regret it."

"I really couldn't imagine a better, more positive and effective early learning environment for my kids than Green Sprout. My two boys attend Green Sprout and I am constantly amazed by the love and warmth they receive from the teachers (we call them guides) and from the overall environment of the school on a daily basis. They both learn so many new things every day that I can barely keep up with their progress. And I have heard from many other parents whose older children started at Green Sprout about how their kids have excelled in elementary school because of the educational foundation they received at Green Sprout. The exposure to Chinese, Spanish and Yoga is awesome too!
I love that every guide knows every student in the school (not just the students in their class) because all the guides are out on the playground watching all the kids together during outdoor time - always having fun and jamming to music. It makes for very easy, seamless transitions from one class to the next as they grow. The guides all get along so well and are friends outside of school and it shows. Again - it's the warmth and love from the guides that makes this school what it is. They treat each child as if they were their own which is the most reassuring feeling for a parent.
This really isn't just a preschool - it's a community and I am so grateful that my family can be a part of it."

"I have three children. I am pleased to say that they have all spent their preschool years at GS. I'm also honored to have enjoyed a front row seat watching the school grow over the 8+ years that I have been a client. I truly cannot imagine going anywhere else & receiving nearly the quality of care that GS seems to so effortlessly provide. (I tried & happily landed here after several mismatches)!
No, this school is not cheap. But in this case, I believe you can hardly put a price on such an experience. Make no mistake- I am a single mother & I still find that the extreme struggle to make this work in my budget is worth it for the investment in my children's development. This school has one priority: the children. Just so happens, that is also my number one priority!
The owner, Liz, is one of the most whole-hearted & fair-minded people I have ever had the pleasure of giving my hard-earned dollars to. She is highly organized & studied education, so even if her heart wasn't in the right place (and I believe it surely is), the erudition alone is precisely the model I want to foster in my children. What she & the staff have created is nothing short of exemplary. My older children came out on top of the curve, ready to enter public school with confidence & eagerness to learn, social & problem-solving skills that have served them in all the years since. The staff turnover is extremely low because they are well taken care of & respected. They make a decent living wage & have full benefits. (I know because a close friend of mine recently applied to work there). In short, it feels really, really good to know that my money is going to a contented staff that puts their all into creating an environment that is founded in compassion, peace & respect for the entire planet.
I'm not here to convince anyone about the worthiness of the programming. The word of mouth has already spoken- hence the years-long waitlist. I too, however, was compelled to write after seeing the negative reviews. I'll remind readers here that those yelpers are attempting to review a business that they are not actually customers of. I find it hurtful & am saddened that they assume the worst. Unethical? I can't know for sure, but I'm guessing the steep price of a tour is an effort to deter families precisely because the waitlist is so long! Or hey, maybe their time is actually valuable & taking hours out of the day to cater to a potential new client costs something! Raking it in on tour money?? I have spent a lot of time at GS & only ever run into one active tour. Lastly, this caliber of loving tutelage requires a communal equilibrium that must be carefully maintained. I very much value the circumspect selection! The risk of seeming exclusive is just part of it, I suppose. If you're pissed about a tour fee (paid of your own free will with zero promises) & then throwing a fit online about not being included, I'd prefer not to have your kid in class with mine!"
